Canelo's third official bout
On 20 January 2006, Canelo Álvarez had his third official bout of his career, which was a win over future IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vázquez in his hometown of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Álvarez had made his professional boxing debut at the age of 15 in September 2005, defeating Abraham Gonzalez in the fourth round. By 20, Álvarez became the youngest boxer to claim the World Boxing Council (WBC) light middleweight title in 2011.
In his third official bout, Álvarez defeated Vázquez, who he would defeat again in a rematch on 28 June 2008.
